Let me know if you have any questions!
Please bring these items on the first day of school!
**This list varies slightly from the one posted on the CHES webpage for 4th grade.**
Hello!
Two very important papers and report cards are being sent home today. Please make sure you ask your child for those things. The yellow paper is explaining that next week is scheduled to be my last week (as long as nothing changes) before maternity leave and the wonderful supply teacher that will be taking my place. The students already know her and she did a wonderful job with them while I was out earlier this school year. The pink paper is addressing administrative changes for the upcoming school year. PLEASE sign and return the report card envelope!!! If you have any questions, my email is [email protected] and it is also linked on the Cheatham Hill website! You can send me a Remind text as well! Things are back in full swing here! We were able to jump right back on track after the break which is GREAT! Report cards were sent home last week. Please make sure you go over it with your child. Celebrate their achievements and make a plan for areas of weakness! The envelope needs to be signed and returned if it hasn't been already. We reuse them each quarter. Spelling lists have been updated on the English/Language Arts section! I have given the students the Six Flags reading logs as their reading log for the next month. They need to read a total of 360 minutes. As long as they continue with the regular 80 minutes a week (20 minutes a day Monday-Thursday), then they will be finished by Valentine's Day. I'm setting 2/14 as the due date for the Six Flags reading log. This'll give me enough time to get them entered for their FREE ticket. Even if they don't want the free ticket, the reading log still needs to be completed. It is part of their DAILY homework assignments. Please do not lose/throw away the reading log and remind them to be keeping up with it as I will be in class. Reminder: my email is [email protected] (my maiden name). If you click on my name through the CHES website, it'll automatically send it to the correct email address. We have been having issues with the email system not delivering emails or delivering them to the Spam folder. The fastest (and probably safest) way to get in touch with me is through the Remind App. We can have quick text conversations that way and it always goes through.
Hello!
On December 17th-19th 4th grade students will be participating in New Nation Rotations. During these rotations, students will enrich their understanding of the 13 colonies and what life was like as a new nation. The kids we be playing games and participating in fun (and possibly messy) activities! Please send them in preferably dark clothes that would be okay if they were to get dirty. We'll do our best to keep them clean, though! We do this every year and the kids LOVE it! We asked for donations and the sign up quickly filled. With that being said, we'd love for additional donations in case we need extras. These are the items we need: White Muslin Fabric (Several yards) Large Round Buttons (Best priced at Joann's) -https://www.joann.com/primary-big-button-clamshell/10138139.html#q=buttons&start=1 Clothes Pins Parafin Wax Yarn (Any color) Thank you for all you support! Hello parents!
I'm back and let me say, I loved seeing your kiddos today! We spent the day playing catch up a little, but tomorrow will be back to business as usual! I noticed some students were missing spelling lists for this week, so I went ahead and put the remaining lists up for this quarter. You can find those under the Language Arts page. (These are subject to change with any schedule changes.) We will be working on multi-digit multiplication this week in math. We are focusing on informational reading and opinion/persuasive writing this quarter. In science this week, we are wrapping up ecosystems and beginning water(solid-liquid-gas and the water cycle). We are continuing through our Studies Weekly newspapers for social studies. The remainder of 2018 will go very quickly, so remind your child to stay focused and work diligently please! I want to be able to do fun holiday activities, but that can only happen if we get through everything! I hope you all had a wonderful break and a happy Thanksgiving! Hey Guys,
The annual tradition of Cape Day is back on Oct. 19th. While some superheroes battle scary villains, at Children’s, our superheroes fight something much scarier—illnesses and injuries that many of us could never imagine. But when they wear a cape, nothing is impossible. Please join us as we celebrate all of our superhero patients by wearing a cape on Cape Day! All fathers and father figures (uncles, grandfathers, older brothers, etc) are invited to enjoy pizza night with their student on Thursday, October 4th beginning at 6:00 in the cafeteria! We will serve pizza and will have an informational session, presented by our Top Dog.
Watch D.O.G.S. is a one-of-a-kind, school-based father involvement program that works to support education and safety. Who are WatchDOGS? Fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer to serve at least one day a year in a variety of school activities as assigned by the school principal or other administrator. Opportunity, Duties & Role DOGS will get to volunteer in their child’s classroom and join them for lunch, but will also help out in several other classes, at recess and help to manage the traffic at the start and end of day. Each day will bring unique challenges, and we try to be useful in any way needed by the staff. For more information about this innovative initiative of the National Center for Fathering check out the following website: http://www.fathers.com/watchdogs/ We will be ordering pepperoni and cheese pizzas and appreciate your RSVPs for planning!
