Announcements
It's getting very busy over here at Cheatham Hill!
We're getting ready for the holiday break, finishing up work, and cramming a few more standards into the quarter. Remind your child that learning is still happening and they need to continue working hard! The last week before break has a TON of fun activities, BUT students need to have their work completed in order to participate in things like movie day, rotations, etc. I've been giving ample opportunities for students to work on anything they need to finish because I don't want anyone to have to work instead of celebrate with their classmates. Our class party is on Monday, December 16th! Our room moms are organizing everything and they should be able to answer any questions you might have! The students will need to wear active wear and tennis shoes. This is when we will do the obstacle course party we won from having the most donations one week during the canned food drive. We have TREIGNED to thank for coming to put it on for the kids! Math team permission slips went home Monday. The students will answer questions provided by Nicole Meador from the county. The students will answer the questions independently, at school and turn them in by the due date (weekly). I want to explain that these question are HARD. Please don't be concerned if your child does not get them correct and I don't want your child to be discouraged. It'll be a great experience to be challenged even if they don't make the team!
Parents,
Thank you for all your support so far! We are so close to our goal of $35,000! Just a reminder, tonight is the LAST NIGHT for pledging! We have our big dance party, the Cheatham Hill Champathon, happening tomorrow. Check out our Last Night for Pledging video featuring some of our amazing staff: https://vimeo.com/356547998 Thank you for your participation! If your student gets a pledge tonight of ANY AMOUNT, they can wear a PAJAMAS to school TOMORROW (Tuesday)! Log a pledge on funrun.com or your student can bring in cash or check!
Cheatham Hill Champ-athon Families,
Our class is having a BLAST preparing for the Cheatham Hill Champathon coming up soon! We've also begun learning how to choose to live with character every day through Booster’s brand new character theme, MindSpark: Wild West. While they're teaming up with the MindSpark Kids to compete in character duels, your students will learn five 21st-century character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world. Make sure to ask your students what they've learned each day, and together you can watch the story unfold on boosterthon.com! Remember, we need your help connecting to sponsors who can make a pledge to help our school! Please make sure all pledges for the Cheatham Hill Champathon are entered on boosterthon.com. The more pledges we get, the more incentives our class earns on our Pledge-O-Meter. Thank you for your generosity and support of our school. If you have any questions, please let me know. Have a great day! P.S. Make sure to register your child on boosterthon.com. Search for your school or use our school registration code: 368452 My gradebook has been worked on by the front office and is almost finished. I should be able to start putting grades in over the next day or two! Wahoo!
I wanted to add- All assignments/assessments/quizzes/tests/essays/etc. are weighted equally. I try not to put too much stress on "tests" and "quizzes" because the assignments that they completed before the test are just as important. Neither assignment will carry more weight than the other in the gradebook. Please stress to your child that they need to be doing their best on EVERY assignment! If you have tried to email me using the link on the CHES website, I did not receive it! I changed my email over the summer and we got the website link updated yesterday. The email address is correct now!
Check out the Social Studies section for information about the test!
It will consist of multiple choice and match questions as well as a map labeling section. Please study daily! TOMORROW IS PICTURE DAY! This first picture day is for the yearbook. The order form for pictures went home yesterday. Check their Daily Folders for the paper if they haven't given it to you yet. They should bring them with them tomorrow if you'd like to order photos!
Their first social studies test is next week on 8/20! We completed the study guide together and they were instructed to put them in their daily folder and study for homework tonight. They will also receive their spelling list TOMORROW for next week's test. These first two spelling lists consist of common words they will need to know. See ELA tab for list. Finally, Watch DOGS (Dads of Great Students) meeting is on Thursday this week if in case anyone is interested and would like more information! |
